Spin bikes have a heavy fly-wheel and smaller seats like a road bike. They are designed for the serious rider and allow you to get up and out of the saddle. They are very robust and there are lots of options for adjusting resistance, reach, handlebar height and seat height.
Keep in mind that spin bikes work more like a fixed-gear bike, meaning that if you stop peddling they keep on spinning due to the inertia of the flywheel. They generally don’t allow for ‘freewheeling’ when you stop peddling.
