What Makes a Spin Bike Different?
Spin bikes have a heavy flywheel and a smaller seat, like a road bike. They're designed for the serious rider and let you get up and out of the saddle for climbs and sprints. They're very robust, with lots of options for adjusting resistance, reach, handlebar height and seat height.
Keep in mind that spin bikes work more like a fixed-gear bike: if you stop pedalling, the flywheel keeps spinning because of its inertia, so they generally don't allow freewheeling. That momentum is what gives them their smooth, road-like feel — and why a proper setup and fit matters more than on a standard exercise bike.
They're also an efficient way to train: Harvard Health Publishing estimates 30 minutes of moderate stationary cycling burns around 210–294 calories depending on body weight, and harder interval sessions push that higher.

Spin Bike Features Worth Paying For
- Magnetic resistance: quieter and lower-maintenance than friction pads — worth it if you ride early or share walls.
- App connectivity: Bluetooth bikes like the Adidas C-21x work with Kinomap and Zwift, turning home rides into virtual routes and classes.
- Incline and decline: the Lifespan SM-720i tilts to simulate climbs and descents for a more realistic ride.
- Commercial build: models like the Lifespan SM-800 and Bodyworx ASB700 are built for studios and heavy daily use.
- Adjustability: check that seat and handlebars adjust both up-down and fore-aft so every rider in the house gets a proper fit.

Spin Bikes for Sale Brisbane — FAQ
How much is a good spin bike in Brisbane?
New spin bikes at Mr Treadmill range from $389 to $2,199. For regular home riding, the $500–$900 range (for example the Bodyworx ASB500 or Horizon 3.0SC) gives you a solid magnetic bike.
Is a spin bike or an upright exercise bike better for home?
A spin bike suits riders who want a road-bike feel and hard intervals out of the saddle. An upright exercise bike has a more comfortable seat and simpler console, which suits steady everyday cardio. See our full exercise bike range to compare.
Can I use Zwift or Kinomap with your spin bikes?
Yes, on Bluetooth models. The Adidas C-21x connects to Kinomap and Zwift. Ask our team which other models in the range support the app you use.
